When Lakota opened its doors in 1992, it did not take it long for it to become one of the best known club brands and a serious player in the 90’s worldwide global music scene. People have travelled from all over the UK and further afield to attend its high-profile nights. Lakota, which means “people of the earth”, has captured the feeling of the time and is recognised as a place where anyone from any background, colour, creed and sexuality can come to dance and enjoy music. The music is, unashamedly, underground music. Lakota is an underground music venue. Do not come to Lakota if you are expecting to hear the run of the mill chart music. Do come if you want your ears to bleed and if you want to dance all night amongst kindred spirits.

You may have heard that the owners of Lakota are planning to develop the site and replace it with flats. This is true but this will not happen for some time and do not think that Lakota will disappear. The spirit of Lakota will be somewhere in Bristol for ever.
