BreakHaus: Face2Face Day Fest, The Battle for the Beat

BreakHaus emerges into the sunlight.

For our Bristol debut and inaugural day party, we’re bringing the signature Face-to-Face format to Lakota Gardens.

Face2Face [F2F] lies at the core of BreakHaus. Conjuring a musical face-off where DJs go head to head, track for track, F2F is a challenge of who can stoke the dance floor and keep the night alive. Not to be mistaken for the beloved Back to Back format, F2F features two DJ setups facing each other, creating a gripping showdown of selection-based skills.

We bring you a studded lineup, pitting some of the UK’s most cutting edge DJ’s against each other.

Introducing Plastician, a true originator of grime and dubstep, known for shaping the sound of early 2000s London with his uncompromising productions and heavy DJ sets. As founder of Terrorhythm Recordings, Plastician has played a key role in pushing the wave movement forward, cementing himself as a pioneer of UK bass.

Opposite him stands DJ Oblig, founder of Obligated Records, who is often regarded as an architect of new-wave grime, fusing the genre with elements of drill, techno, dubstep, and Latin rhythms. His freestyle series on Rinse FM is known for championing the next wave of MCs; this is set to be a historic clash.

Breaka is a powerhouse of breakbeat and bass. Based in London, he has established a reputation through his Reprezent Radio residency and an array of successful releases, including ‘Breaka 003’, a collaborative project featuring BAKEY and his BreakHaus opponent, Frazer Ray. Formerly known as Soundbwoy Killah, Frazer Ray is a Bristol-born selector and producer blending breakbeat chaos and euphoric soundscapes with surgical control.

Composed of Fliss Mayo and Zebb Dempster, Bristol based duo Dual Monitor are currently making waves in the UK underground dance scene with their intense, groove-driven sets. Their energy and style have brought them to lineups at Gottwood, Boiler Room, and Outlook Origins. This pair comes with a crate full of curveballs and an ear for building pressure.

In support we also welcome celebrated DJ and producer Soulstar, originally from Stuttgart and rooted in a rich multicultural heritage facing Bristol’s very own IZZIT, a DJ synonymous with her Garage, Electro & breakbeat selections.

It’s one for the books. Place your bets.

IMPORTANT NOTE: BreakHaus has a strict zero-tolerance policy for discrimination and harassment. Your safety and comfort are our top priorities. If our staff observes any display of such behaviour, you will be removed from the venue without reimbursement.
